Footstool

Richard Puller and I (Also known as Footstool) went to a movie tonight. He picked it out. Some small budget flick at the Angelica Midtown. Not the fancy Angelica Theater I’m told, but some offshoot. Well, fuck, I live on the N line so this is the main theater for me. I love some convenience, and my heart hates those damn subway stairs.

It wasn’t exactly what he had been planning. He likes to go out and drink, and something tells me he wants to be seen out with me and show me off, and honestly, at this point, I may need the ego boost. No, this was just to a movie theater to see some indie flick which we both enjoyed. My body no longer handles the bars and good times of my past. We snuck in some Dr. Pepper and gummy snacks but purchased fresh popcorn.

My favorite part of an indie film is digesting the art someone made for you. I don’t want to know what’s going to happen beforehand. No trailers, no spoilers, nothing. I’m there to be entertained by art, regardless of topic. Just show me what’s on your mind.

Before the movie started there were two females, red females. Nick had just gone to the bathroom and I was getting settled in the aging, but wonderful power reclining seats. God, so comfortable, and a bit high. I smoked a bit from the vape while Nick was under my feet at his apartment before we left. I remember thinking “This should take the edge off of the back pain during the movie” while he was choking. Mental note, make better timing choices. If I am purposely removing this fags ability to breathe I need to focus on his breath, make sure fag doesn’t blackout under my feet. Can you imagine the hysteria? Cops, fireman, ambulance all because I forgot to let him breathe for weed. Better choices.

This woman said “At least he didn’t suffer long. Trish… she, well, she… suffered for 11 years. Can you imagine that?”, and yes, yes I can. I can imagine every poke, prod, every ambulance and every ER visit. Every single bit of pain.

“And she suffered terribly..” – red lady.

Turns out, the movie has a vital twist at the end about the main character dealing with the sudden loss of her ex-lover, a man whose wonderful story we found along with hers. Cancer definitely isn’t the main theme, and thankfully society can incorporate cancer in much healthier ways than mainstream movies and tv. It’s real and it’s shit, but it’s just life. Good movie.
